BESc. Mechatronic Systems Engineering • September 2016 - June 2021
Electronics Design EIT• May 2021 - Present
Working towards manufacturing an 80V electric mining vehicle. Developed a battery architecture that increases discharge capacity by 40% to promote battery life. Reverse engineered third party equipment and components to develop functionality testing plans. Oversaw multiple project activities, including scheduling, design, manufacturing milestones, and coordination with other subsystems.
Engineering Intern • May 2019 - August 2020
Oversaw building automation system projects in Ameresco Canada's London Ontario regional office. Collaborated with clients to redevelop the sequence of operations and control systems to optimize energy savings. Completed a heat pump replacement design at John Paul II Catholic Secondary School - Canada's first carbon neutral school.
Accumulator Subsystem Lead • June 2019 - May 2021
Acted as one of the electrical safety officers for the team. Led the testing of WFR's accumulator by interpreting CAN messages from the vehicle control unit (VCU) and the battery management system (BMS). Designed the vehicle’s brake system plausibility device-used to detect potential hazardous driving situations where the driver is hard braking while high-voltage is active. Managed the day-to-day subsystem activities including design review, scheduling deliverables, and coordination with other team members and subsystems.
Retrofitted WFR 2019's accmulator to be compatible with the 2020 vehicle, designed the packaging and wiring of components within the accumulator.
System DesignThe BSPD is a digital logic system that triggers the vehicle's shutdown system when hard braking is applied and high-voltage is on
PCB DesignDeveloped the charging system's high voltage interlock loop, to ensure that there are no shorts when charging the accumulator
